Information
Giving and receiving feedback is an everyday element of emergency medicine practice and an important administrative duty. In particular, medical directors may avoid giving feedback because they are unsure how to discuss both critique and praise in the same sitting. We may also have uncontrolled emotions when receiving both positive and negative feedback. This lecture will discuss ways to give feedback using principles from fields such as sports, music, and education. It will also cover the highs and lows of feedback and how to ensure psychological safety during feedback sessions. The lecture will use the growth mindset to reframe feedback reception and help turn it into positive action.
